dark-knight-rises-batcave.jpgLess surprising than any of the twists in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" is that the latest Christian Bale/Batman movie is poised to come in first place at the box office again.

"The Dark Knight Rises" pulled in the biggest box office haul on Friday, July 27, earning an estimated $18 million per BoxOfficeMojo.com. Coming in a distant second was "Step Up Revolution," the fourth film in the dance movie franchise that brought the world Channing Tatum (he's not in the latest, though), with $4.85 million.

The Ben Stiller/ Jonah Hill/ Vince Vaughn comedy "The Watch" managed to bring in $4.5 million for third place on Friday, with "Ice Age: Continental Drift" earning $4 million for fourth place and "Ted" earning $2.2 million for fifth place.

Rounding out the top ten were "The Amazing Spider-Man" with $1.9 million, "Brave" with $1.24 million, "Magic Mike" with $870,000, "Savages" with $481,000 and the indie "Beasts of the Southern Wild" with $222,000.
