Bradley Cooper's new movie deal: Historical spy thriller 'Dark Invasion'

bradley-cooper-hot-getty.jpg "Silver Linings Playbook" has made Bradley Cooper an award season favorite and one of the hottest leading men in Hollywood, and Warner Bros. has acquired rights to the upcoming book "Dark Invasion" to develop specifically for Cooper.

The actor will also produce the true story of foreign attacks on U.S. soil in 1915, when German Secret Service launched a "covert war" in the hopes of preventing America from intervening in fighting in Europe. According to Deadline, Cooper will play NYPD Captain Tom Tunney, who heads up a team dedicated to stopping the Germans.

The "Dark Invasion" book, written by Howard Blum, is scheduled to be published on Sept. 11, 2013. The symbolism of the date is strictly intentional.

Cooper is currently in serious demand. He already finished filming a Depression-era drama with "Silver Linings" co-star Jennifer Lawrence, is wrapping a threequel to "The Hangover," is attached to Cameron Crowe's next movie and another project with "Silver Linings" director David O. Russell and has drama "The Place Beyond the Pines," co-starring Ryan Gosling, due for release soon.

Not bad for a guy we still remember best as Will Tippin on "Alias."
