'Buffy's' Anthony Head is one of NBC's 'Free Agents'

anthony-head-gi-320.jpgThe 2011 pilot season, which has already given work to Sarah Michelle Gellar and Eliza Dushku, is getting even more of a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" flavor with the casting of Anthony Head in an NBC comedy.

Head, aka Rupert Giles, has taken a role in the Peacock's "Free Agents," which stars Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn as co-workers at a talent agency who are both coming off the end of relationships (he's divorced, her fiance died) and may be right for each other. Head will play their arrogant boss, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's a role Head knows well: He played the same part in the British series (also called "Free Agents") on which NBC's pilot is based. (You can go here to see a little bit of Head in action.)

For the pilot, Head will be billed as a guest star, the HR says. If NBC picks up "Free Agents," he has an option to be a series regular, which would be his first full-time role in a U.S.-based show since "Buffy" ended. He can currently be seen in the British series "Merlin," which airs on Syfy in the U.S.
