Casting call: Stephen Root joins '24,' Natalie Zea meets 'Lawman'

stephenroot_290.jpgThe new season of "24" has added yet another actor to its cast: Former "NewsRadio" star and "True Blood" vampire Stephen Root.

FX, meanwhile, has made former "Dirty Sexy Money" star Natalie Zea a regular on its upcoming series "Lawman," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On "24," Root will appear in several episodes as a corrections officer who's searching for a missing parolee. How that fits into the larger story of the season is being kept under wraps, but we're guessing it's not just coincidental. The show begins its eighth season in January.

Root played vampire Eddie in several episodes of "True Blood"; he also voiced the hapless Bill Dauterive in "King of the Hill" and had a recurring part on "Pushing Daisies" last season. He'll next be seen in the feature film "The Men Who Stare at Goats."

"Lawman" stars Timothy Olyphant ("Damages") as a U.S. marshal working in his home state of Kentucky; Zea plays his ex-wife. She was billed as a guest star in the pilot but will continue the role as a regular member of the cast.

In addition to "Dirty Sexy Money," Zea's credits include "Eyes" and a recurring part on "Hung."
