Chelsea Handler: 'Reese Witherspoon's arrest not a big deal'

reese-witherspoon-chelsea-handler-gi.jpg Chelsea Handler wants everyone to know that her buddy Reese Witherspoon is doing well after her arrest on Friday (April 19) for disorderly conduct.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at E! Network's Upfront in New York on Monday, Handler said, "She's doing fine. She's doing fine, you know? She's just trying to protect her husband, so ... I mean, everybody makes mistakes so it's not a big deal."

It seems as though Handler wasn't just posturing for her friend, either. Us Weekly reports that the two spent time together on Sunday night at the Greenwich Hotel in NYC, along with Witherspoon's husband Jim Toth (who was also arrested, for driving under the influence), Cameron Diaz, Michael Keaton, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann.

A source tells the magazine that the gathering was relatively low-key, perhaps in light of the weekend's unfortunate incident. "Nobody was drunk -- it was pretty tame," the source says, claiming the group sipped on San Pellegrino rather than alcohol. "They all seemed really happy. There was no indication that there was anything wrong."
