The 2013 San Diego Comic-Con is open for business and business is good. The annual gathering of the nerds is using Wednesday as the annual preview night, giving certain badge holders access to the convention floor a whole day early to shop, hunt for freebies and celebrate the things they love.
Zap2it is at Comic-Con and was invited to a special preview of the "Ender's Game" Fan Experience, which transports visitors into the world of the movie. Fans attend battle school, walk through sets used in the film, and even take a tour of costumes and props worn by stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford and Hailee Steinfeld
After completing the tour, fans get the chance to take a picture in space. After getting your photo snapped in front of a green screen, you'll get a dog tag with instructions on how to retrieve the image, which makes for a fun souvenir.
Elsewhere at Comic-Con, movies and TV shows have huge presences, from "Divergent" to "Adventure Time." "The Walking Dead" goes all out for their display, building part of the jail the survivors live in and employing some real-life zombies who seem a little hungry.
Most of the shows and films have special items they're giving away to fans, including posters, shirts and more. Of course, there's also the stuff you have to pay for. Individual retailers and companies have brought brand new merchandise, exclusive to Comic-Con. While some of it's cheap, it can also get pretty pricey. You can check out the best Con exclusives in our gallery.
There's something at Comic-Con for just about anyone who consider themselves a fan, and it's an event that gets bigger and more epic by the year.
