'Community' will portray its characters as puppets in an episode with Jason Alexander

community-paleyfest-puppet-characters-jason-alexander-nbc.jpgThey've already been cartoon characters, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that the characters on "Community" will soon be immortalized in puppet form. At the 2013 Paleyfest, the producers and cast revealed that the puppets would appear in an episode airing later this spring.

In addition to the puppets, this particular episode will also feature Jason Alexander ( "Seinfeld") as a friendly mountain man. Obviously.

How does all of this work? It seems that the study group will take an ill-fated balloon ride (cue the "Gilligan's Island" references from Abed) that crashes into the woods. Alexander's wood-dwelling character will then help the group return to civilization.

The trauma does not, however, end there. Whatever happens in the forest leaves everyone feeling awkward, so Dean Pelton ( Jim Rash) suggests they act out their feelings with puppets. As you do.

Puppets set to appear will represent Jeff ( Joel McHale), Pierce ( Chevy Chase), Britta ( Gillian Jacobs), Shirley ( Yvette Nicole Brown), Abed ( Danny Pudi), Troy ( Donald Glover), Annie ( Alison Brie) and Chang ( Ken Jeong). There is no word on whether or not we will see a Jason Alexander puppet as well.

"Community" airs Thursdays at 8pm on NBC.
