Cracker Barrel puts 'Duck Dynasty' merch back on shelves, apologizes for offending

phil-robertson-duck-dynasty-peta-statement-ae.jpgOutraged "Duck Dynasty" fans were no match for Cracker Barrel: Just two days after the restaurant, known for its Southern comfort food and the kitschy gift shops attached to each location, pulled its "Duck Dynasty" products from shelves to avoid offending customers, the products are back in the stores. The company pulled the items after star Phil Robertson's inflammatory comments about homosexuality came to light.

"When we made the decision to remove and evaluate certain 'Duck Dynasty' items, we offended many of our loyal customers. Our intent was to avoid offending, but that's just what we've done," the company wrote on its Facebook page. "You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren't shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. You flat out told us we were wrong. We listened. Today, we are putting all our 'Duck Dynasty' products back in our stores. And, we apologize for offending you."

Cracker Barrel's move comes two days after the lieutenant governor of Louisiana spoke about how important "Duck Dynasty" has been for the state's tourism industry. "Regardless of one's views on Phil Robertson's statements, 'Duck Dynasty' has been an important representation of the state of Louisiana, inspiring prospective visitors and investors since its debut," Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show has been so successful that other networks have reportedly offered the show a home should A&E decide to cancel it.
