'Criminal Minds' renewed for Season 9, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness returning

A CBS rep confirms to Zap2it that the entire cast will return for Season 9. Several cast members were at the end of their contracts this season, and A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness had reportedly threatened to leave the show if their salaries weren't brought up to parity with those of their male co-stars.

Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna and Shemar Moore also have new deals in place ( Matthew Gray Gubler and Jeanne Tripplehorn were already under contract). According to Deadline, Cook and Vangsness each got substantial raises that brings their pay much closer to what Moore and Gubler make.

"Criminal Minds" was one of only a handful of CBS shows not renewed back in March, in large part due to the contract negotiations. With deals now done, its place in CBS' lineup for next season is secure.
