Critics Choice Awards 2012 winners: 'Community' wins Best Comedy and 'Homeland' best drama

critics-choice-awards-winners.jpgOn Monday night, June 18, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced the winners of its 2012 Critics Choice Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles -- its second annual event.

Though "Community" led the pack going into the evening, with six nominations, they only took home one award -- luckily, it was the most important one, for Best Comedy Series. "Modern Family" reigned supreme in the supporting actor categories.

On the drama side of things, "Homeland" won for best series -- and its star, Claire Danes, for best drama actress.

In addition to the winners, the critics also revealed their most highly anticipated new shows with its "Most Exciting New Series" list. Mindy Kaling's "The Mindy Project," and ABC's "Nashville" were the shows they're most excited to see this fall. Kevin Williamson's "The Following," will premiere in January 2013. Also on the list were summer shows -- Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" (which starts June 24 on HBO) and Greg Berlanti's "Political Animals" (premiering on USA on July 15).
