'CSI: NY,' 'Vegas,' 'Rules of Engagement' and 'Golden Boy' canceled at CBS

NBC issued a flood of cancellations earlier in the week, and CBS joined the fray on Friday (May 10), dropping the ax on the only four scripted shows on which it had yet to make a call: veterans "CSI: NY" and "Rules of Engagement" and rookie dramas "Golden Boy" and "Vegas."

None of those is terribly surprising. "CSI: NY," which ended its ninth season in February, was widely expected to be done. Most of the "Rules of Engagement" cast sought other work this pilot season. "Vegas" started well but was on a downward curve for most of the season, and "Golden Boy" never really caught on in the ratings.

PICS 2012-13 canceled shows

The cutting of "Golden Boy" and "Vegas" means CBS will bring only one of its first-year shows, "Elementary," back for a second season.

The cancellations come on the heels of CBS ordering six new shows for next season. The network may pick up one or two more pilots to series, but it has nearly all the pieces it needs to assemble a schedule for next year. All that remains to be seen is what that schedule will look like, which we'll find out on Wednesday (May 15).
