'Dancing With the Stars': Evan Lysacek is finally 'getting that competitive itch' in Week 8

evan-lysacek-abc.jpgEvan Lysacek has been Mr. Nice Guy up until this point in the "Dancing With the Stars" competition. But watch out fellow contestants, because he's about to turn up the heat.

When Zap2it asked the Olympic gold medalist just a couple weeks ago what he thought about his prospects for winning, he told us, "I'm not thinking that far ahead" and that he just "wanted a new challenge."

But perhaps his perfect-scoring performance last week got his competitive juices flowing. Lysacek got a visit from Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen during rehearsals over the past week, and when she asked him if he had his eye of the Mirrorball trophy, he sang a different tune.

"I started this show and this whole process thinking, 'I just want to do something fun after the Olympics was so intense,'" Lysacek tells Cohen in an ET segment. "And the further and further we get from the Olympics, the more I'm getting that competitive itch again, and I'm really starting to bring my competitive fire to this competition."

Week 8 is "Era Week," so Lysacek will be doing a futuristic cha cha on Monday (May 10) night. He describes it as "a night out at a club in the future." The newly competitive Lysacek will also be taking on a romantic waltz.

Keep an eye out for Vera Wang in the audience. Wang designed all Lysacek's costumes during the Olympics and she'll be there with her family Monday night to support him on his quest to take the Season 10 title.

As for the other contestants trying to snag the Mirrorball trophy:

Nicole Scherzinger, perhaps Lysacek's biggest threat, will do a '50s-themed paso doble and an elegant foxtrot.

Look for the always entertaining Niecy Nash and her "jiggly parts" to do a '90s-themed paso doble and a Viennese waltz.

Chad Ochocinco, the recently dubbed "contender" by Len Goodman, will do a '60s-themed jive and a tango.

We'll see an '80s-inspired rumba from Erin Andrews, who will also do an Argentine tango.
