'Dancing With the Stars': Heidi Montag passes as the rumor mill roars back to life

It seems like just yesterday we watched, misty-eyed, as Jennifer Grey triumphantly hobbled off the ballroom floor, mirror ball of glory in hand... but it's almost that time again.

"Dancing With the Stars" returns to ABC in March, and one of the first suggested participants is someone who likely won't be able to go through with it.

RadarOnline reports that former "Hills" star and plastic surgery poster child Heidi Montag was offered a role on a previous season of "DWTS." Her other reality commitments kept her from going through with it, and now, even though she still wants to, fears of getting injured keep her from talking the leap.

Montag isn't the first name to pop up in Season 12 casting speculation. TMZ reports the series has approached Lorenzo Lamas ("Renegade") and Donna D'Errico ("Baywatch"). Both of them have expressed "serious interest," which hardly seems surprising.

What would be a shock is if "DWTS" followed up two all-star seasons with a "who's who" of '90s syndicated TV veterans.
