'Dancing With the Stars': Shannen Doherty first star sent home

shannen-doherty-abc.jpgShannen Doherty had to overcome her panic attack-inducing fear of live audiences to compete on "Dancing With the Stars."

But she got to say goodbye to live audiences for good Tuesday (March 30) night after America sent her home.

Doherty was always open about how she was inspired to conquer her fears and join "DWTS" this season because of her dad, who suffered a stroke last Christmas. She claims that watching his recovery made her realize she could overcome her own limitations.

The "90210" and "Charmed" star emotionally referenced her father, who was always watching from the in-studio audience, almost every time the microphone was in front of her. After tonight's elimination, she even joked how she was going to dance with her dad if she was still around next week -- since her partner, Mark Ballas, has an injured wrist.

Doherty certainly wasn't the worst dancer, but it's popularity that counts on this show. In which case, we have a feeling Kate Gosselin might be around for a while.
