DeAngelo Hall did a great job of keeping his composure. Yes, Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan really said that, according to a report by the Washington Post. Of course, Shanahan means Hall did a great job until that fateful moment when he removed his helmet. So what was that, almost a full 20 seconds?
Hall was ejected from the Redskins' match against the Pittsburgh Steelers after losing 30 yards in penalties for his team due to a profanity-laced tirade directed at an official on the field. Hall thought Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders should have been penalized for a dirty block, and Shanahan agrees. However, says the coach, "If something occurs, you have to be strong enough to stay away from it."
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to announce any disciplinary action, but you can be sure Hall will be fined. Shanahan says he's waiting on the outcome of DeAngelo's meeting with Goodell before he makes any disciplinary decisions of his own.
Video footage of the incident shows Hall doing a really great job of keeping his composure -- compared to John McEnroe, maybe -- before ripping off his helmet and eventually being held back from the ref by his teammates.
