Debra Messing is Ms. 'Wright,' 'Ugly Betty's' Ana Ortiz is 'True Blue'

debra-messing-ana-ortiz.jpg"Will & Grace" star Debra Messing is returning to the sitcom fold, taking on the starring role in ABC's pilot "Wright vs. Wrong."

"Ugly Betty" star Ana Ortiz has also lined up a pilot, as have Ryan Devlin, Alicia Witt, Will Yun Lee and Carmen Ejogo.

"Wright vs. Wrong" will star Messing as a conservative pundit who tries to make sure her private life matches up with her public face. If it's picked up, the show would be her first network gig since "Will & Grace" ended in 2006; she also starred in the USA series "The Starter Wife."

Messing will also be an executive producer of the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Writer Stephnie Weir ("MADtv"), Mitch Hurwitz ("Arrested Development") and Kim and Eric Tannenbaum ("Two and a Half Men") will also exec produce.

- Ortiz, who's nearing the end of "Ugly Betty," will stay at ABC with "True Blue," a crime drama about a group of San Francisco cops who are trying to solve a colleague's murder. She'll play a secretary at the precinct, the HR says.

- At CBS, Devlin ("Cougar Town") has joined the Twitter-based comedy (Twitcom?) "S*** My Dad Says." He'll play William Shatner's son, the showbiz trade papers report. The  character is based on Justin Halpern, the pilot's co-writer (with Peter Schumacher) and creator of the Twitter account on which the show is based.

- Witt ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Friday Night Lights") has signed on to ABC's pilot "Edgar Floats." The show is about a former police psychologist who's now a bounty hunter; Witt is set to play his ex-wife. Derek Webster ("Mental") has also joined the show as Edgar's therapist.

- "Bionic Woman" and "Thief" actor Lee has landed two roles. He'll be a regular on ABC's Richard Hatem-Katee Sackhoff drama, playing the owner of a Chinese restaurant and friend to an ex-cop who works with Sackhoff's detective, and a guest star on CBS' "Hawaii Five-O" remake, playing a crime boss.

- Ejogo ("Kidnapped," "Boycott") will star with Freddy Rodriguez, Tim Blake Nelson and Eric Close in CBS' CIA drama "Chaos." She'll play an analyst for the agency.
