'Dexter' complete series to soon be available on Netflix
Showtime and Netflix announced some exciting news for "Dexter" fans: the complete series will be available for streaming fairly soon.
The serial killer drama aired its final episode, "Remember the Monsters?," on Sept. 22, and Netflix and CBS Corporation announced little over a month later when the series will be available online. Beginning on Oct. 31, the first four seasons of "Dexter" will appear on Netflix. Then on Jan. 1, 2014, the final four seasons will be available.
"We're thrilled to have 'Dexter,' one of Showtime's highest-rated shows on Netflix, and so quickly after it completed its record-breaking run," Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos says in a statement. "This is one of the great serialized dramas of the past decade and we know our members will enjoy discovering or reliving the twisted world of Dexter Morgan anywhere and anytime they want."
As seen with shows like "Breaking Bad," having a show available for streaming on Netflix can definitely help boost its viewership. It's been reported that the largest percentage of viewing hours on Netflix comes from complete "season-after" series such as "The Walking Dead" and "Scandal," so it seems likely that many non-Showtime subscribers will take advantage of this "series-after" availability of "Dexter."
Though "Dexter" has come to a finish, the story might not be completely over. There is still hope for a spinoff series on Showtime.
