Doobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack dies

Michael_Hossack.jpgDoobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack, 65, died from complications with cancer Monday at his home in Dubois, Wyoming, reports Rolling Stone.

Hossack played with the group from 1971-1973 on some of the Doobie Brothers' most famous tracks like "Jesus Is Just Alright" and "Listen to the Music." He left in 1973 to help fellow Vietnam veterans with charitable pursuits, returning the the group in 1987, where he remained for more than two decades until his health forced him to leave in 2010.

In 2010, Hossack thanked fans for their support during his illness, posting on the band's website, "It certainly helps to keep my spirits up during my time away."
