'Downton Abbey's' Shirley MacLaine: Maggie Smith is 'so much fun'

shirley-maclaine-maggie-smith-getty.jpg Shirley MacLaine has been in England this week filming her new role as Cora's American mother, Martha Levinson, for "Downton Abbey." She first tweeted about shooting out in the wind and rain, now she has praised Dame Maggie Smith, who plays Lady Violet the Dowager Countess.

"Amazing day on Downton Abbey set. I love the British humor and temperament and functionality. Maggie is so subtle and so much fun!" tweets MacLaine.

However, don't go checking MacLaine's Twitter account for these tweets - she has deleted them. Weird. But we saw them and we're glad she's having such a good time so far. We're very much looking forward to our first sneak peek of her as Martha.

"Downton Abbey" returns to the U.S. airwaves in January 2013.
