Drea de Matteo's Lifetime movie 'Stalkers' could become TV series

drea-de-matteo-gi.jpgDrea de Matteo has signed on to Lifetime movie "Stalkers," which could become a TV series at the cable network.

De Matteo, an Emmy-winning co-star on "The Sopranos" and current guest star on "Sons of Anarchy," will play Diane Harper, a volatile cop who teams up with a straight-arrow DA to bring down a stalker. The project is based on one of the stories included in the book "Whisper of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers" by Rhonda Saunders, a California criminal prosecutor who wrote the state's stalking law. The script was adapted by "Last Resort" writer David Wiener.

If successful, the TV movie will inspire a series, a la the network's Jennifer Love Hewitt movie-turned-series "The Client List."
