Eddie Murphy 'very much alive,' just victim of death hoax

eddie-murphy-horiz-getty.jpgAnother day, another celebrity death hoax. The latest victim is comedian and actor Eddie Murphy.

A site called Global Associated News began the lie on Friday (Feb. 3). The story says that Murphy was vacationing in Switzerland when a snowboarding run went horribly awry. Of course none of this ever happened.

Murphy's representative tells E! News, "Trust me, Eddie is very much alive and well and definitely not in Switzerland snowboarding."

The site does qualify the post in fine print at the bottom saying that the story is " fiction [and] for entertainment purposes." That said, we're struggling to find anything entertaining about this.

Death hoaxes, as morbid as they are, seemingly are all rage these days. The bizarre fad has "claimed" the lives of such celebs as Cher, Jon Bon Jovi and Reba McEntire.
