Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving 'The View': 'We have no plans' for it, says Barbara Walters

elisabeth-hasselbeck-not-leaving-the-view (2).jpgThere have been many rumors swirling around daytime talk show "The View" lately, in the wake of Joy Behar announcing her departure. Chief amongst them is that conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is also leaving and that actress Brooke Shields is going to take the place of one of them on the panel.

On Monday's (March 11) "View," Behar did confirm her departure, cracking, "Sixteen years I was married, too. I don't like my jobs to last longer than my marriage." And no one made any  mention of Shields perhaps joining the show. But Barbara Walters did address the Hasselbeck rumors.

"There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth's alleged departure, saying that we don't approve of her conservative views. The truth is, we love Elisabeth. I like her personally and she's just a wonderful person," says Walters.

"But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view. It's important to us, because Elisabeth helps give this show perspective and balance. And believe me, she's tougher than she looks -- she'd have to be, to sit here for a decade and take the kind of guff we give her."

"We have no plans fro Elisabeth to leave this show," Walters concludes.

So, does that put the rumor to bed once and for all?
