'Ellen': Robert Downey Jr. talks fatherhood

robert-downey-jr-scarlett-johansson-ellen-degeneres-wb.jpgWhen he's not out saving the world from evildoers in "The Avengers," Robert Downey Jr. has what's probably an even tougher job - he's a new dad. The actor stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday (May 4) to talk about what life is like with his three-month-old son Exton.

Downey tells DeGeneres that the infant is smiling and "talking." When the host presses him on his second claim, Downey explains that the gurgling sure sounds like something he can understand.

"I think he is," he says. "I go, 'What are we doing? What's happening?' He goes 'Wa wa wa.' I go, 'Really?' Kind of like a bad date with somebody who is really small."

Exton is Downey's second child. He has an 18-year-old son from a previous relationship.
