The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Blunt is nearing a deal to join the film as the Baker's Wife, a woman who is unable to have children due to spell put on her by a sorceress, played by Meryl Streep.

The Baker's Wife is one of the female leads of the musical. Joanna Gleason won a Tony for Best Actress when she debuted the part on Broadway in 1987. The tole has also been played by Imelda Staunton ("Harry Potter's" Dolores Umbridge), in the London production, and Amy Adams for Shakespeare in the Park in 2012.

The only other role cast so far is Johnny Depp as the wolf, while Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine are rumored to be nearing a deal to play the two princes -- Cinderella's for Gyllenhaal and Rapunzel's for Pine.
