Foo Fighters not breaking up, just taking a break, says Dave Grohl

dave-grohl-foo-fighters-hiatus.jpgFoo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took to the group's Facebook page to set the record straight about rumors they're splitting up.

"There were times when I didn't think the band would survive," Grohl candidly admits in the post. "There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world."

But Grohl does reveal that the Foos are taking a hiatus from recording and performing. Grohl set off concerns about the band's future after he declared their performance at this past Saturday's Global Citizens' Festival could be their last, telling the audience, "Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man."

"I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again," Grohl confirms in the Facebook post. "It feels strange to say that, but it's a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It's one of the reasons we're still here. Make sense? I never want to NOT be in this band."

The Foo Fighters' seventh album "Wasting Light" was released last year and nabbed an Album of the Year nomination at this year's Grammy Awards. In addition to Grohl, the band's members are Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee.
