FOX 'bullish' on 'The Mindy Project' Season 3, will stick with 'Enlisted'
In fact, Reilly says Monday (Jan. 13) at the TCA winter press tour, "I'm pretty bullish on it.
"I love the show. I think the creativity of it ... it's really on the money right now. Again, glass half-full, glass half-empty: The ratings are for us not where I wish they would be. I think the show deserves to have more viewers."
Still, Reilly says "Mindy" is profitable for the network and attracts a desirable "upscale" audience. "The little hiatus was nothing to do with the show, it was just trying to get everything [on the air]," he says. "But I'm highly bullish on it being back next season."
Reilly isn't quite as effusive about "Enlisted," which struggled in its premiere on Friday. But he does say he plans to stick with the well-reviewed show this season.
"I haven't given up on Friday night. We're going to continue to program Friday night with first-run shows," Reilly says. "We've got to break a habit that we've told the audience forever that it's not worth their time. ... Listen, I wish ['Enlisted'] did a higher number, but I'm going to hang with it through the 13, and we'll see how the DVR helps."
