FOX orders more 'American Dad' and 'Burgers'; Gwyneth Paltrow to sing at CMAs

Animation is still going strong at FOX. The network has ordered up eight more episodes of "American Dad" and six more of "Bob's Burgers." They're also looking at a few more animated pilots. [ FOX]

How do you like Gwyneth Paltrow's country conversion so far? Well, she's going to make her live country music singing debut at the CMAs this year on Nov. 10. With this, her "Country Song" movie and "Glee," we're wondering if husband Chris Martin might consider switching to acting next. [ ABC]

Ellen DeGeneres may have left "American Idol," but she's not "idle." She's signed a multiyear deal with Warner Bros. studios to produce scripted, reality and social media projects through her A Very Good Production banner, for which she's tapped Lauren Corrao (formerly of Comedy Central) as president. Barack Obama will become the first sitting president to appear on "The Daily Show" on Oct. 27. The show is taping in Washington next week as part of the runup to the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rally on Oct. 30. [ Comedy Central]

Much casting, pilots and guest stars: "Austin Powers" frau Mindy Sterling and "Last Comic Standing's" Natasha Leggero are joining FX's spaceship and aliens comedy pilot "Alabama." "The Hangover" actor Bryan Callen will play the lead in MTV's "COPS"-style mockumentary "Death Valley" that investigates the undead, and finally Noah Bean ("Damages") will play recurring CIA case officer/analyst Ryan Fletcher on "Nikita." Eva LaRue spills details about the "CSI: Miami" Halloween episode in which people use a "zombie drug" that makes them unaware of the reality and what they've done. What's in store for her character Natalia: "I end up getting drugged and shooting at my coworkers and thinking that they're my ex-husband trying to kill me! But my ex-husband is already dead.
