Freddie Mercury hologram: Queen frontman will rock you (again)

freddie-mercury-hologramQueen's Freddie Mercury is set to take the stage in London on Monday (May 14) for the 10th anniversary of the London musical based on his band's music, but band mates insist it isn't a hologram ala the late Tupac Shakur's Coachella performance.

The band's Brian May insists that the Freddie resurrection was in the works before Tupac took the stage at Coachella.

"It's a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while," May tells the BBC. "[That technique] is something we've looked at ourselves, but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week, it's not really quite practical."

Meanwhile, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain may be among deceased artists next up on the list for hologram treatment.

"Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, oh, and Michael Jackson would be the ultimate one," Sanj Surati of Musion Technology tells NME. "Maybe even Whitney Houston."

Putting "Elvis on stage with Justin Bieber would be a cool thing," adds Surati.
