'Fringe' Season 5 trailer: The Dunham-Bishop family faces the Observer apocalypse

fringe-season-5-premiere-trailer-spoilers.jpgWith the "Fringe" Season 5 premiere just over a month away, we may or may not be doing some fringe science experiments of our own to see if we can jump into the future. Just for a little while. Say, 13 episodes worth. We promise not to upset the balance between the universes.

Since our experiments thus far have failed, we'll have to settle, for now, for this brand new trailer with the very first released footage from Season 5. As we told you last month, the "Fringe" premiere will give us a look at Peter Bishop ( Joshua Jackson), Olivia Dunham ( Anna Torv) and their four-year-old daughter, Etta -- before the family was torn apart for over 20 years.

With all they'd been through, you'd think that Peter and Olivia (who are married now, if that ring on Peter's hand is any indication) would know that they aren't the type of family that can enjoy a nice, quiet, relaxing day at the park. This promo shows startling footage of the Observers arriving, just as September warned Walter. This time, though... it looks like they're coming for Etta.

In a few flashes, we see (very) brief glimpses of the bleak future into which Peter, Walter, and Astrid arrived in the Season 4 episode "Letters of Transit." We're pretty quick on the pause button, so we can see that things are even darker than we expected them to be after that episode. Here's hoping that the team meets up with Olivia soon -- wherever she is -- and they can hurry up and save the world in 13 episodes.

What do you think of the new trailer? Make sure to tune in at 9 p.m. EST on Sept. 28. And if you need to get caught up, you're in luck -- the "Fringe" Season 4 DVD hits shelves Sept 4. Cancel all your plans.
