'Game of Thrones' Halloween costume guide: Dress like Daenerys, Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister

Halloween is right around the corner, which means it's the perfect opportunity to flaunt your love of your favorite television series. To make life easier, here is a handy dandy guide to make simple and efficient costumes based on characters in "Game of Thrones."

There are plenty of characters to choose from in the HBO hit fantasy series, but the ones included below left particularly memorable impressions in Season 3. Since the show's historic-styled outfits are sometimes a bit hard to reproduce on short notice, there are some easier way to bring the residents of Westeros to life included in this guide.

Daenerys Targaryen: Arguably the most recognizable "Game of Thrones" costume, dressing as Dany requires two key pieces: a white-blonde wig and plush dragons. Beyond those pieces, a dress styled after Daenerys' many looks from the past three seasons will do the trick. Bonus points for yelling at people in Valyrian.

Jaime Lannister: Unfortunately for Jaime Lannister but fortunately for a Halloween customer, the one item needed to complete the Kingslayer's look will likely be pretty easy to find: a fake severed hand. Wear that around your neck and have your right hand covered in linens to make it look like a bloody stump, and you're going to be golden like a Lannister. Bonus points for a shaggy beard, dirty rags and a sword awkwardly held in your left hand.

Jon Snow: While a Jon Snow costume will be best used in a cold Halloween environment, anyone can pull off his Nights Watch look. Dress in all black with black boots and black gloves, and make sure you're pulling off the character's dark flowing locks and pouty face. Black furs non-negotiable.

Brienne of Tarth: This maiden fair simply needs a bear to make her costume complete. Wear a frilly pink dress and a short blonde wig to show off your Brienne style, and then carry around a sword and a stuffed bear to make the look complete. Bonus points for going with a matching Jaime.

George R.R. Martin: Technically George R.R. Martin isn't a "Game of Thrones" character, but the "A Song of Ice and Fire" scribe has a memorable look that fans of the series will definitely pick up on. Throw on a big bushy Santa beard, a captain's hat and some suspenders and you're set.

Not sold on any of these? Here are some other ideas:

Go cheap with Tyrion Lannister: Take the easy way out and just buy a Hand of the King pin and draw on his scar. Boom: you're done.

Go morbid with Catelyn Stark: Poor Catelyn. She died in a pretty gruesome way in Season 3, so recreate it by drawing on her slit throat and dressing in a long flowing gown. But be warned: a reminder of the Red Wedding could be enough to bring some "Game of Thrones" fans to tears.

Go funny with Joffrey Baratheon: Simply be a girl dressed as Joffrey. Someone needs to take that boy king down a peg.

Who do you plan as going as for Halloween?
