Golfer Lydia Ko, 15, wins the New Zealand Women's Open
It's time to learn the name Lydia Ko. The 15-year-old golfer is number one in golf's amateur division, and recently won her third professional tournament at the New Zealand Women's Open.
This marks the latest chapter in an impressive 13-month streak for Ko. She became the youngest player to win a professional event at the New South Wales Open and then went on to be the youngest winner on the LPGA Tour at the Canadian Open. This latest victory has a special place in the Koren-born New Zealander's heart, though, because she won the tournament at home.
''It was a pretty good day out there, and I'm pretty excited to have my name on this trophy. I didn't cry at the Canadian Open, so I've got no idea why I cried here. I guess it meant more," she tells the Associated Press. ''It's our national open, so to win it means a lot. I'm not the sort of person who shows expression or feelings that much but I guess I did here.''
