Halloween on 'The View,' 'Ellen,' 'GMA,' 'Regis and Kelly,' 'Today' and 'The Talk'

halloween-today.jpgAh, Halloween. A time to revel in childish pursuits -- like gorging on candy and playing pretend. It's also, of course, the time of year when daytime TV talkers go all out and get dudded up in what has become an escalating war of over-the-top costume proliferation.

On "Today" (above), anchors Matt Lauer and Ann Curry recreated the royal wedding with themselves as Kate and Wills. Al Roker and Maria Shriver subbed for Harry and Pippa while surprise guest Meredith Vieira made a grand entrance as Queen Elizabeth.

halloween-theview.jpgMeanwhile, "The View" hopped on the zombie bandwagon. Each host dressed as a zombie version of a different reality show personality/premise. We have to admit, most of them were lame. We're with Joy Behar, who thought the idea was kind of goofy. We don't blame her since she had to dress as a Zombie Hoarder. Whoopi Goldberg's Zombie Steven Tyler just seemed wrong somehow given the "American Idol" judge's recent shower face plant. And Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Zombie "Bachelor" -- totally phoned in. The only woman worth paying attention to was Sherri Shepherd, who was dressed as a Zombie Flavor Flav and stayed in character throughout the show. Barbara Walters, it should be noted, was not on hand for the shenanigans, though a Zombie Kate Gosselin (really, she did look different from the normal Kate) did stop by to chat about life after TLC and talk seriously -- as small plastic babies dangled from her wig -- about not wanting to exploit her children.

halloween-thechew.jpgOver at "The Chew," the co-hosts -- as they are wont to do -- all went in entirely different directions. Carla Hall donned a wig to morph into Diana Ross (so, yes, she looked like Carla Hall with slightly longer hair). Clinton Kelly put on a red wig and Crocs to channel fellow "Chew"-er Mario Batali. Daphne Oz traded her long blond locks for long black ones as Morticia Adams, while Michal Symon totally nerded it up as Shrek. Batali himself donned a punky blond wig, sunglasses and flaming shirt to dress as fellow celebrity chef Guy Fieri. Fizzle.

halloween-kelly-nick.jpgRegis Philbin wisely sat out Monday's "Live with Regis and Kelly." Instead, boy-bander Nick Lachey did the co-hosting honors and followed Kelly Ripa through several costume changes. They too tried their hand at recreating the royal wedding. Halloween queen Heidi Klum also stopped by to channel Reeg:

Ellen DeGeneres went with a sure winner: She dressed as YouTube viral video sensation Sophia Grace (the one who sings Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass."):

halloween-ellen.jpgFinally, "The Talk" took the high road -- or the Yellow Brick Road -- with their homage to "The Wizard of Oz": Sheryl Underwood as the Cowardly Lion, Sara Gilbert as the Dorothy, Sharon Osbourne as Glinda the Good Witch, Aisha Tyler as The Scarecrow and Julie Chen as The Tin Man.
