A near-tragedy was averted on Sunday (March 31), when Heidi Klum saved her drowning son, Henry, while the family was enjoying a vacation in Hawaii.

As first reported by Us Weekly, the 7-year-old Henry and two nannies were in the water of an Oahu beach when a riptide swept away the three. "We got pulled into the ocean by a big wave," Klum said in a statement. "Of course, as a mother, I was very scared for my child and everyone else in the water. Henry is a strong swimmer and was able to swim back to land. We were able to get everyone out safely."

Klum was aided in her efforts by boyfriend Martin Kirsten. The German supermodel and ex-wife of singer Seal had been enjoying an Easter vacation with the family, including Henry and his siblings Leni, Johan and Lou.

Already the host of "Project Runway," Klum was recently named a judge on "America's Got Talent." She will join Howie Mandel, Howard Stern and fellow newcomer Mel B at the judges' table for that show.

Apparently, Heidi Klum puts the "super" in supermodel.
