HGTV's Dream Home 2011: Just a cozy little 3,000-square-foot cabin in Vermont

hgtv-dream-home-2011.jpgNew Year's Day means it's time for resolutions, bowl games, hangovers, and if you're HGTV, the biggest day of the year.

The cable channel gets some of its biggest ratings of the year with its coverage of the Tournament of Roses parade in the morning. It then follows up with the unveiling of its annual Dream Home giveaway, which is currently burning up the Internet as people check out the house and enter the sweepstakes.

What those people are gunning for this year is a 3,000-square-foot home at the foot of a ski hill in Stowe, Vt. The full prize package is worth $1.5 million and includes a GMC Acadia Denali and $500,000 in cash.

The two-level home includes living areas on both levels, two big bedrooms with their own baths and a "ski dorm" that can accommodate up to 12 people who will want to mooch off the place's proximity to the slopes. (Or, presumably, you could use some of the $500,000 to make it into a third bedroom, an office or something else.)

You can enter through Feb. 18 at HGTV.com or FrontDoor.com (once a day at each site). The winner will be notified in March. You can get a look at the Dream Home in an HGTV special airing at 9 p.m. ET/PT Saturday and 5 p.m. ET/PT Sunday (Jan. 2).
