'How I Met Your Mother': The yellow umbrella returns in 'How Your Mother Met Me'

Monday's (Jan. 27) show, "How Your Mother Met Me," will follow the Mother ( Cristin Milioti) and see what she's been up to for the past eight years -- including a few times she almost crossed paths with her future husband, Ted ( Josh Radnor).

"Cristin is amazing in it, and there are a lot of fun intersections between her life and our gang," co-creator Craig Thomas says. "So our gang is in that episode, but really it's her episode, and I feel that kicks off the endgame of the season and the series where you're going to see more of her and Ted and learn more about them."

Among the near misses in Monday's show is a flashback to Season 3's "No Tomorrow," where Ted has a disaster of a night out on St. Patrick's Day and snags the Mother's yellow umbrella. Her perspective on the night is partially revealed in the two clips below (featuring guest star Ahna O'Reilly as the friend who drags her out).

As you can see, the first clip also references the Mother's knack for painting robots playing sports, something first mentioned in "Girls vs. Suits" from Season 5. That episode is likely to be another of the key moments in Ted and the Mother's parallel lives to be revisited in the episode.

"How I Met Your Mother" airs at 8 p.m. ET Monday on CBS.
