Hurricane Sandy forces Broadway shows to go dark

phantom-broadway-jm.jpgWith Frankenstorm Sandy scheduled to hit the East Coast in a matter of hours, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has stopped all subway service starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. As such, all Broadway shows have been canceled for the night, and Monday night as well.

In a press release, the Broadway League outlined how disappointed theatergoers can get their money back for the canceled shows.

"If tickets were purchased via Telecharge or Ticketmaster via phone or online your credit card will be refunded automatically within 7-10 business days," says the release. "If tickets were purchased at the Box Office: please return your original tickets to the Theater Box Office. You have the option of receiving a full refund to the original method of payment or exchanging your tickets for an alternate date of your choice, subject to availability."

Check out the rest of the release here. There's no word on the fate of Broadway shows past Monday.
