Ira Glass, Owen Wilson, Rob Thomas team for 'This American Life'-inspired HBO show

ira-glass-gi.jpg Owen Wilson, Ira Glass and "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas are teaming up with HBO to turn a "This American Life" segment into a drama series for the network, reports Variety.

The project, tentatively titled "Thrillsville," is based on a March 2010 "This American Life" segment entitled "Midlife Cowboy," about San Diego drug smuggler-turned-copywriter James Spring who, as he approached 40, "found his life utterly unremarkable" and "decided to try to rescue two kids who had been kidnapped by suspected murderers, and taken to Mexico." Spring's story eventually led to him becoming a missing persons investigator.

The HBO script, which is being written by Thomas, will be a fictionalized account of Spring's tale.
