'Iron Man 3' movie: Jon Favreau returns as an actor

After directing the first two installments, Favreau has inked a deal to appear as an actor in "Iron Man 3." Fans of the films will remember Favreau's cameo appearance in "Iron Man" as Tony Stark's bodyguard, Happy Hogan. The role was expanded in "Iron Man 2."

In "Iron Man 3," Favreau will reprise the role, according to THR. There's no word yet as to how large a role he'll have, but he did tweet the below photo of his chair as proof of his return to the show.

Production is set to begin filming next week in North Carolina, with cast members Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle returning. They'll also welcome newbies Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Ben Kingsley and James Badge Dale to the cast.

This year, Favreau directed the "Revolution" pilot, written by "Supernatural" scribe Eric Kripke and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, for NBC.
