'Iron Man 3': New Rebecca Hall still and Super Bowl spot teaser

iron-man-3-rebecca-hall-maya-hansen-marvel.jpgPromotion is ramping up for "Iron Man 3," one of the surefire hits of the summer movie season, and Marvel and Disney are stoking the fan excitement with a splashy new ad set to air during the Super Bowl, as well as a steady stream of new stills.

The latest image released is a solo shot of Rebecca Hall as sexy scientist Maya Hansen, a brand new character to the film franchise (and central to the development of the Extremis technology in the comic mythology, which will be introduced in the new movie).

Director Shane Black recently discussed Hall's casting and Maya's importance to the story with Empire magazine: "We needed a snappy and exciting actor to play the part, and not make it this 'female scientist who takes off her glasses and suddenly she's beautiful!' There's a certain element about her being the female Robert Downey Jr. in a way."

It's no surprise that Jessica Chastain was originally up for the part, but had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts. Hall was also previously featured in a batch of stills released in December.

Meanwhile, fans have already dissected the first official trailer but this weekend's Super Bowl spot should deliver even more developments. Check out the 10-second preview below:
