Jason Momoa ready for 'Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo return
As fans of the George R.R. Martin books know, there could be opportunities for similar cameo appearances by dead characters. Without giving anything away, Dany's visions were different in the books than they were on the show, so similar tweaks could be made to allow people to potentially see Ned Stark, Robb and Talisa, or even Khal Drogo once again.
Zap2it recently spoke with Momoa at a lunch to promote the upcoming series premiere of his new Sundance Channel drama "The Red Road," and he played coy when the possibility of another cameo was broached.
"You'll have to keep watching," he hedges with a smile.
At least hopeful fans missing their Khal can rest easy knowing Momoa is game for another appearance. "[Showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], they're like family to us [Momoa and wife Lisa Bonet]. When the moment calls for it, they know that I'm there. I'd do anything for them," he says.
Of course, he admits that the more time goes by between Drogo's death and the current "Game of Thrones" plot, the more of a stretch it is for him to go to premieres and discuss appearing on the show.
"It gets hard after four years and you've been dead for three," he says. "The funny thing is I just saw Emilia like two nights ago, and Kit [Harington], they're very dear friends that come over to our house."
He continues, "We go [to the 'GoT' premieres] because we're big fans and [consider] them family and friends, but now they just come to my house and we see them. It's more of a geek thing where we really, really like the show. We just want to watch it before everyone sees it. We don't really want any of the press, but we're happy for everyone."
That's not to say he won't work with the cast in the future. "I was talking to Emilia, like we have to do something that's contemporary," Momoa says. "That would be fun to do."
"The Red Road" premieres on the Sundance Channel on Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. "Game of Thrones" Season 4 premieres on HBO on April 6 at 9 p.m.
