On July 10, Jay Z decided to brand himself as not just a rapper, but a performance artist with an installation at New York's Pace Gallery. What is his take on modern art? Rapping his song "Picasso Baby" for six hours in front of a crowd of dancing fans.
A 10-minute short film made at the event, aptly titled "Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film," debuted Friday (August 2) on HBO and was then put online. The video shows appearances by a number of celebrities who were attending the event, from actors Alan Cumming and Taraji P. Henson, to director Judd Apatow and members of the "Girls" cast. Rosie Perez and Fab Five Freddy also show up.
Itwas a unique experience for Jay and his fans, all of whom look like they are having a great time. It's also a more interesting watch than a run of the mill music video.
