Jennifer Aniston spends almost half a million on a painting for Haiti

Jennifer-Aniston-marie-claire.jpganiston-painting.jpgJennifer Aniston was the winning bidder on a large, abstract painting at the "Artists for Haiti" auction by Christie's in NYC. She dropped $450,000 on the painting "Stranger #44," which was estimated to be worth between $150,000 and $200,000.

Aniston's boyfriend, filmmaker Justin Theroux, did the bidding on her behalf. Clearly, they really wanted the painting by artist Glenn Lidon, pictured here with Stranger #44 and Thelma Golden, Director and Chief Curator of The Studio Museum in Harlem).

According to Artinfo, Aniston "clapped enthusiastically" when Theroux made his winning bid. The 72" by 60" painting is an abstract work of oil, charcoal and graphite on canvas. Lidon donated the piece for the "Artists for Haiti" auction, which was organized by Ben Stiller, Aniston's "Along Came Polly" co-star.
