Jennifer Aniston turned down 'SNL' for 'Friends': 'They thought I was making a huge mistake'

jennifer-aniston-getty.jpgJennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler stopped by "Oprah" on Monday (Jan. 31) to talk about their new flick, "Just Go With It," and how they almost worked together on "Saturday Night Live" back in the day.

"We wanted Aniston to be on the show with us," Sandler recalls. "I remember being on the 9th floor where [Executive Producer] Lorne Michaels' office was, and seeing Jen come in and I was like 'Oh my god, there's Aniston. Is she about to be on our show?'"

But Aniston didn't end up joining the cast and instead, opted for a little project called "Friends."

"'She said no?'" Sandler thought at the time. "'She's gonna do that 'Friends?' What the hell is 'Friends?''"

"They were like, 'You're so stupid,'" Aniston remembers. "They thought I was making a huge mistake."

She did alright, and though she has recently admitted to hating the hair-do named after her character on the show, we're sure glad she chose Rachel over a spot on the spot on "SNL."

The actress still had her time to shine on the sketch comedy show anyway, as she has served as hostess once in 1999 and a second time in 2004.
