Jenny McCarthy was rejected by 'The Bachelorette' after her divorce

Maybe she should file this in the win category.

It turns out that Jenny McCarthy was rejected by "The Bachelorette" ... almost a decade ago. The 41-year-old revealed the shocking little factoid on "The View" Tuesday (Jan. 14) that she tried out for ABC's dating show back in 2005. But McCarthy wasn't the one who spilled the beans.

Her co-host Barbara Walters revealed it. "You tried out to be a Bachelorette and you did not make it," Walters said.

"No one knows that," McCarthy responded. "When I got a divorce, I was lonely. I needed to be loved. I did this show called "Singled Out" on MTV back in the day, so I thought it would be great because I was single and I love TV, so put those together and brilliant."

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), McCarthy wasn't accepted to be a contestant. "I got my agent to call ABC and say I wanted to be the new Bachelorette," McCarthy says. "And they said, 'No, we're not using celebrities at this time.' That was [nine] years ago."

Oh well. Like we said, McCarthy should file that under the win category.
