'Jersey Shore' lands in Italy: Creator doesn't 'know what to expect'

After being turned away at least once at the airport, the cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" has finally landed on Italian soil and we recently talked to the show's creator about what she hopes for after the orange ones touch down.

"What would I love to see happen in Italy? Gosh, I don't know," Salsano tells Zap2it. "I got to tell you something. I am fascinated with everything. From them getting off the plane, I think from that moment on, I don't know what to expect."

According to the New York Post, the crew is settling into a luxury home near Florence's Piazza del Duomo and this season they're working at a pizzeria. Well, that's novel...

The cast and production will also have to somehow get around Florence mayor Matteo Renzi's strict rules regarding drinking while shooting and how the city is to be portrayed:

-- The cast will not be filmed in bars and clubs that serve alcohol.
-- The cast will not be filmed drinking in public.
-- The show will not be filmed to promote Florence as a drinking town.
-- The show should be filmed in a manner to promote Italy (not Americans visiting Italy) and feature its culture and good food.

Well, we know they can eat and there doesn't seem to be any rules against GTL (Gym, tan, laundry). We assume the crew will just take the party indoors. That cuts out the need to lure trash bags home from the club, since they'll already be there. We have to assume trash bags are an international phenomenon, no?

Salsano doesn't seem worried. She trusts that there will be enough "fish out of water" scenarios to keep the cast interesting.

"We don't just pick up where we left off," she tells us. "We pick up wherever they are in their lives. So now I'm taking these kids that I can't ever predict what they're going to do, and I'm putting them in a foreign country where they can't communicate with anyone, and everything's completely different. So you know, short of me being a psychic, I don't really know what's going to happen."

Do you think MTV has another hit season on its hands?
