'Jersey Shore': Meet the self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes

jerseyshore_290.jpgMTV is letting its "Jersey Shore" stars speak for themselves, but we suspect this won't help placate the angry Italian-Americans.

In a series of promos, each of "Jersey Shore's" self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes introduce themselves, and well, it's not really helping the "we're not racial stereotypes" cause.

For example, Sammy says that a "guidette" is "somebody who knows how to club it up, takes really good care of herself, has pretty hair, keeps up makeup, has tanned skin, owns the hottest heels."

Yeah, it's hard to take these guys ("The Situation"?) seriously. Is there any chance these kids are speaking with irony?

See for yourself.

"The show continues MTV's history of documenting various subcultures, rites of passage of young people, and the ways they self-identify," MTV had said in a statement, responding to criticism about the stereotypes depicted. "The Italian-American cast takes pride in their ethnicity. We understand that this show is not intended for every audience and depicts just one aspect of youth culture."

The subculture tribute known as "Jersey Shore" premieres on MTV on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
