Jesse Metcalfe: 'Chase' is a huge departure from 'Desperate Housewives'

jessemetcalfe-vid.jpgJesse Metcalfe is most recognizable as John, the "Desperate Housewives" gardener who hopped into bed with Eva Longoria's character. This fall, he's making his return to TV "in a big way," as he tells Zap2it at the NBC Upfront presentation in NYC on May 17. His new show, "Chase," is set to premiere on NBC on Monday nights.

Metcalfe says that he's proud to be back on the small screen, especially as part of a Jerry Bruckheimer production. "You know on a Bruckheimer production they're not going to be cutting any corners, and they haven't. What's on the page is what you get. It's just been great production values."

The cast, which includes Kelli Giddish and Cole Hauser, will be shooting on location in Texas. "It's a great backdrop for the story. There's a lot less distractions in Texas. We can really focus on our work and we're gonna hopefully make a hit show."

Just don't expect any of that outrageous "Desperate Housewives" humor. "There is a bit of humor," Metcalfe says, "But this is really a hard-nosed action packed drama that's really about authenticity and gritty reality, so it's a huge departure from 'Desperate Housewives'."
