Joan Jett loves rock 'n' roll: Does Rock and Roll love her back?

joan-jett-small.jpgThe list of nominees for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was released Tuesday morning, with several nominees from previous years showing up once again, including The Beastie Boys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer, Laura Nyro.

Appearing on the ballot for the first time, though, are several of music's most rockin' women. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts received their first-ever nomination, as did Heart and Rufus with Chaka Khan.

Like the genre itself, inductees tend to be a male majority. Last year, Darlene Love was the only female honored. In 2010, the only women inducted were accompanied by men. There was Abba, of course, as well as two songwriters in the non-performer category, and even then, they weren't inducted on their own -- both had male writing partners.

Here's hoping that Jett, whose "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" remains a standard 30 years after its released, gets her love reciprocated this year.
