John Mayer responds to 'Paper Doll,' Taylor Swift questions on 'Today'

john-mayer-paper-doll-taylor-swift-gi.jpgTaylor Swift's habit of penning songs about exes is no secret, but what about one of those exes, John Mayer? Did he have his own lyrical say on the Swift relationship with his current single "Paper Doll"?

"Today" co-host Willie Geist asked Mayer that question after a July 5 performance on the NBC morning show, and Mayer deftly deflected answering.

"Songwriters write songs because of people, about people," Mayer told Geist. "Anything someone else wrote is their reception of a song. I don't get involved. It's none of my business."

Still, consider the evidence.

Besides, it's not like Mayer fired the first shot. There have been rumors Swift wrote the song "Dear John," from her 2010 album "Speak Now," about Mayer.
