John Stamos to take teenage amputee on Disneyland date
John Stamos is earning some major karma points by bringing some joy into the life of a 19-year-old going through an incredibly tough time. On Tuesday (Aug. 6), the former "Full House" hunk shared a photo on Instagram of himself at the bedside of Kaitlyn Dobrow, with the message, "I'm ONLY doing this cause they asked. I said no press. but this story is a must read- plus me and katie have a date to Disneyland."
Dobrow has been fighting a deadly bacterial infection, which forced doctors to amputate the teenager's limbs to save her life. She was admitted to a California hospital in February and since then, she's undergone surgeries in the double digits.
Kathi Dobrow, Kaitlyn's mother, shared her daughter's story on a fundraising site that has raised more than $77,000 to help the family accommodate her needs with rehab and more suitable living arrangements.
"Kaitlyn has had an amazingly positive and courageous attitude throughout this illness and is determined to have a happy, fulfilling life, believing that God has an awesome plan for her future. She is my hero," her mother says.
Stamos shared a second photo of himself with Dobrow on his Twitter, with the caption, "We're planning our trip to @disneyland !!!" In the photo, wearing a Minnie Mouse shirt, the teenager smiles -- the grin of a survivor.
